"A strong cutting tool with good durability. Useful for chopping trees."
A machete, in comparison to a tool like the crude axe, is more durable; however, despite the item's description, it is less efficient at cutting down palm trees (taking eleven strikes, compared to the crude axe's ten). They are more efficient, however, at cutting yucca and potato plants. When handled as a weapon, machetes deal equal, if not more damage than axes - this makes them ideal tools for use in hunting sharks.
- Like other loot items, despite spending a considerable amount of time inside underwater shipwrecks, the machete manages to remain almost completely well-preserved, to the point where it is durable enough to cut down several trees and plants, as well as hunt fully-grown sharks.
- The machete's item description is identical to that of the axe - it is possible that this is a mistake. In reality, it should be closer to that of the pocket knife.
- In the current build, like most tools, up to four machetes can be stored in the same inventory slot, even if they each have varying degrees of durability.
