Lashings are a crafting material found in Stranded Deep. Being a basic resource, lashings are considered a crucial material for many crafting and building recipes. In appearance, lashings are a bundle of threaded plant fibers, made to act as a crude binder.
Obtaining
Lashings can be acquired by harvesting a yucca plant with a sharp tool, such as a Refined Knife or an axe.
As of version 0.11, using any sharp tool will cause the yucca to drop anywhere from 5 to 8 bundles of Fibrous Leafs, which are then crafted into lashings at a rate of 4 bundles = 1 lashing. On the first night, using a Stone Tool (the tiny tool head used in knives in previous updates) will also suffice for cutting down yucca and crafting your first lashings, as lashing is required for nearly all of the tools.
Due to the yucca plant's ability to regrow, lashings are considered a renewable material, unlike other resources and items, such as palm trees, sticks and rocks; this gives the potential of providing the player with an almost infinite supply of lashings. However, the "regrowing" process takes some time to complete, so the player must either remain patient before they are able to extract more lashings, or travel to neighboring islands for additional resources.
Usage
Lashings are primarily used as a crafting ingredient (specifically as a binder) for many recipes - tools, such as the crude axe and hammer, require the use of the lashing to bind the tool heads to the handles, while structural additions, such as doors and steps, require the use of the lashing to bind the frames together.
